The Umweltbundesamt GmbH (Environment Agency Austria) is responsible for the technical implementation of the national registries required for EU emissions trading and under the Kyoto Protocol. With our customer services team, we at the Austrian Emissions Trading Registry (Österreichische Emissionshandelsregisterstelle, ÖEHRSt) support account holders in the use of the Union Registry of the European Commission and are happy to answer any other enquiries. We assist market participants in complying with their obligations under the emissions trading scheme.
The Austrian Emissions Trading Registry is responsible for the administration of all accounts in the Austrian part of the Union Registry in accordance with Community and national regulations and safety requirements. This includes the updating of allocation tables and the appropriate recording of free allowances. Furthermore, national and international reporting obligations are fulfilled and support is provided to the relevant Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology and the EU Commission in the further development of EU emissions trading.
The tasks are performed in close cooperation with national authorities and international institutions such as the European Commission and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
