The protection of your personal information is a matter of great importance for us. Therefore, your data will only be processed if there is a legal basis to do so (GDPR, Telecommunications Act 2003, Data Protection Act). On these pages you will find information about the most important aspects of data processing for all websites hosted by the Umweltbundesamt GmbH (Environment Agency Austria).
It is possible that certain data protection aspects mentioned here are not relevant to the website in question.
Contacting us
If you contact us using our online forms or via e-mail, the personal data you provide will only be used for the purpose of handling your request. Your data will be stored for six months to enable us to deal with any follow-up queries in case they arise. We will not transfer your data unless you have given us your explicit consent.
If you contact the Umweltbundesamt GmbH by e-mail, your e-mail will first be scanned in the Microsoft cloud using multilayered real-time protection against spam and malware (Microsoft Exchange Online Protection).
All of Microsoft’s servers required for this purpose are located in EU data centres within the geographical region of Europe. Such checks will also be performed if the Environment Agency Austria contacts you, only the other way round. For more information regarding Microsoft cloud services, please see the relevant section on “Microsoft Cloud Services” below.

Data stored when placing an order through this website
Please note that for the purpose of making the purchasing process easier, and for further processing your order, the following data will be stored by us: Institution/company, unit/department, VAT number, title, first name, surname, street name, postcode, town or city, e-mail address, telephone number, contact person, invoicing address (if different from the above).
The data will be processed on the basis of the legal obligations set out in Section 96 (3) of the Telecommunications Act and Article 6 (1)(a) (consent) and/or 6 (1)(b) (necessary for the performance of a contract) of the GDPR.
We will not share your data with any third parties except the KSV (Austrian association for the protection of creditors) for the purpose of debiting the purchase price from your account and our auditor in order to fulfil our tax law obligations.
The details we store will be erased upon the cancellation of a purchase. In the event that a contract is concluded, all details related to that contract will be stored for tax purposes until the expiration date of the statutory retention period (7 years).
The following details will also be stored by us until the product liability expiration date (10 years): your name, your address, the items you have purchased and date of purchase.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile phone when you browse websites. They do not cause any damage to your computer, tablet or mobile device.
These cookies are so-called technically necessary cookies that are required for the operation of the website. They are automatically removed from your terminal device after you close your browser.

You may cancel your newsletter subscription at any time. Please unsubscribe in the newsletter. Your details will be removed from our mailing list immediately.
Our newsletters regularly contain links to our or other websites. Although all personal data is processed on servers within the EU, one of the sub-processors has its registered office in the United States of America. Therefore, if you click on such a link, personal data may be transferred to the United States of America.
Social Media Plugins
On our website we use social sharing buttons which help you share content from our website to Facebook, Twitter, Google plus and LinkedIn. This only happens if you actively click on one of these social sharing buttons. Before you activate the social media plugin no data will be transferred to the relevant social media provider. These buttons are created with the so-called Shariff method to protect your privacy.

Details provided for online applications
You can apply for jobs advertised on our website via e-mail. If this results in an employment contract, the personal data you provide will be stored for the purpose of processing the employment relationship in accordance with the legal regulations.
If the controller (i.e. the person responsible for processing the data) concludes an employment contract with a candidate, the data provided will be stored for the purpose of the administration of the employment contract in accordance with the legal regulations.
If no employment contract is concluded, the application documents will be deleted automatically seven months after notification of the decision to reject the application, on the basis of the provisions set out in Section 15 of the Equal Treatment Act, provided that there are no other legitimate interests on the part of the controller preventing their deletion.
Serverlogs
The following data are logged in the server logs of our offer: the user’s IP address and data concerning the time of the request, the purpose of the request, the data volume transmitted, a notification stating whether the request was successful, the browser and the operating system used, and the website from which the access was made (if the access was made via a link). The data is only used to ensure system security. Serverlogs are kept for 6 months.
Microsoft Cloud-Services
The Environment Agency Austria uses Microsoft cloud and Microsoft cloud services (so-called “software as a service”, e.g. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Azure) for the following purposes:
storage and administration of documents, calendar hosting, the sending and receiving of e-mails, spreadsheets calculation, presentations, exchanges of information, content or documents with certain specified receivers, publishing of websites, templates or other content and information, as well as chats and participation in audio/video conferences. All Microsoft cloud services used by the Environment Agency Austria are operated in EU data centres within the geographical region of Europe. The processing of personal data also takes place in EU data centres within the geographical region of Europe.
Data centre locations in the geographical region of Europe are for example Austria, Finland, Ireland and the Netherlands.
In the context of these processing operations, personal data relating to the respective users will be processed insofar as they become content of the described services or are part of the communication process.
These data can be user contact data, contract data, process data, or meta data for the relevant documents.
Microsoft itself processes data on usage and meta data for security reasons and for service optimisation. When you use publicly available documents, websites or other content, Microsoft may store cookies on your computer for the purpose of web analysis or to store user settings.
We use Microsoft cloud services on the basis of our legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the GDPR. Processing is carried out on the basis of a data processing agreement between the Environment Agency Austria and Microsoft.Further information can be found in Microsoft's privacy statement and in the Microsoft cloud services security guidelines.
Microsoft cloud services are provided by Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399 USA. If data processing is carried out in the United States of America, such processing in accordance with Article 46 paragraph 2 lit. c of the GDPR is legally covered by the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission which are part of the contract with Microsoft Corporation.
YouTube Content
Some YouTube content from our YouTube channel is presented on the websites of the Environment Agency Austria. When you access such a page, your IP address is transferred to YouTube and a cookie is stored in your browser. Please refer to the "Cookies" section of this privacy statement for information on how you can prevent or influence the storage of cookies.
Your rights
You have the right to be informed, to have data rectified or erased, to restrict processing, the right to data portability and the right to object and withdraw your consent.
